There are all kinds of social media platforms on the internet. Some are those hypersocial, extra-exposing platforms that allow users to do everything in one place. Facebook and Instagram fall into this category. Others are more focused on a handful of basic features, made for users who prefer greater privacy and fewer features. Snapchat and WhatsApp are two of the best examples in this category.
Then come the platforms that lie somewhere between the two extremes, providing a balanced experience to their users. These platforms generally allow users to socialize with a plethora of users, though not with as much freedom as they would get on Facebook or other similar platforms. Telegram is a good example.
But in this blog, we will talk about another amazing platform that falls in the third category: Discord. Discord is one of the coolest platforms ever, and we mean it. Although many people consider it a platform for gaming communities, it is much more than that. Discord is fun as long as you have friends to talk with on any topic.
In this blog, we will talk about how you can have fun with friends on Discord via group chats. Read on know some interesting things about group chats on Discord.
Discord Groups: Do they exist?
Whenever you talk about Discord, Discord servers automatically pop up in the conversation. And it is no surprise as the platform is mostly known for its servers– Discord communities where tens of thousands of users can take part and discuss a range of topics.
As mentioned earlier in this blog, Discord is a well-balanced platform when it comes to the extent of socialization it offers. While you can join servers based on your interests, you can also use Discord to chat with people privately. One-to-one conversations are just as possible on Discord as servers are.
Just like one-to-one conversations, group chats are also possible on Discord. Anyone can create groups on Discord quite simply. You can add your close friends and create a group to hang out together or make specific groups for specific topics.
However, there is a big catch. You can only have ten members in a group– nothing more than that! And the saddest part is that we are not joking. While this cap seems too limiting to be enjoyable, it is because Discord wants you to use servers rather than groups.
Now that you know the good and the bad of groups on Discord, let’s jump into the process of creating a Discord group on the Discord mobile app.
