While the reels have a striking similarity with TikTok videos, they’ve surpassed the latter in terms of both popularity and creativity. And as it should be, reels have more scope for creative freedom and have, therefore, kept the users glued to them.

Have you ever posted a reel and then later remembered you needed to tag others in it, too? Well, if you have, know that you’re alone. This is a common problem many of our readers have been coming to us with. Today, we’ll show how to fix this problem by tagging people on a reel after posting it. Let’s get started!

How to Tag Someone on Instagram Reels After Posting? A step-by-step process

Let’s address your concern without further ado. We understand that it’s easy to miss out on small technicalities like tagging your friends in the excitement of creating a posting reel. In fact, Instagram understands it as well.

It is because the platform understands such conundrums faced by its users that it has provided us with ways of mending such tiny errors on the app itself. Yes, it’s completely possible to tag someone on a reel you posted on Instagram.

Below, we’re going to describe the step-by-step process of doing so elaborately. It’s not a very complicated one, especially if you’re paying attention.

Now, let’s get started:

Step 1: Launch the Instagram mobile app on your smartphone.

From the Home tab that you first land on, navigate to a column of 5 icons arranged at the bottom of your screen.

The rightmost icon on this column will be your profile picture’s thumbnail. Give it a tap.

Step 2: You’ll find yourself on your Profile tab next. Here, below your profile picture, username, bio, and Highlights section, you’ll find three icons arranged in a column:

l A grid icon for your posts (and reels, if you don’t choose to remove them from here).

l A reel icon for a separate Reels section.

l A tag icon for the Tagged section – where all posts and reels in which you’ve been tagged are displayed.

Tap on the icon in the middle – the reel icon – to view all the reels you’ve posted so far in one place.

Step 3: As the Reels section is displayed on your screen, scroll through it until you find the reel in which you forgot to tag someone.

If it’s a recent mistake, it’s likely that one of the first three reels has to be the one, so you wouldn’t need to scroll for long.

Step 4: Upon finding the reel, tap on it to open it in full display. At the bottom right corner of the screen, can you notice an audio icon with a musical note drawn on it?

Right above the audio icon, you’ll find an ellipsis (three dots arranged horizontally) icon. Give it a tap.

Step 5: As soon as you tap on it, a menu will slide up your screen with multiple options listed on it.

The first three options – arranged on top – are ShareLink, and Save. Below these three options are more options mentioned in a list format:

Select the first option – Manage – here.

Step 6: Upon doing so, another menu will pop up on your screen. The first option on this menu is Edit, with a pencil icon drawn next to it. Tap on it.

Step 7: Next, you’ll be taken to the Edit info page, with the reel’s thumbnail and caption mentioned on top, followed by the Tag people option. Select this option.

Step 8: On the next screen that you’re taken to, you’ll see your reels playing in preview, with a + icon drawn inside a circle below, with Tap to Tag People written under it.

All you need to do now is tap on this icon, search for the username of the person whom you want to tag in it, and select it.

Step 9: Once their name appears below the reel, it indicates that your tag is ready to be added. You’ll also find an option of tagging other people available there.

If you need to tag more people, go ahead. Once you’re satisfied, hit the blue Done option located in the top right corner of your screen. When you go back to your profile, refresh it, and go back to that reel, you’ll find the tagged icon present on the reel.

That’s it! That’s all you need to do to fix the issue of forgetting to tag someone on your Instagram reel!
