How to Remove Phone Number from Twitter

It’s a commonly asked question on Twitter. Fortunately, Twitter is conscious of its user base, and maintaining privacy is one of its top priorities. 

They are known to act on it when they uncover something unexpected. As a result, you now have the choice to erase or alter your phone number if you so want. You are probably wondering what you will do next now that Twitter has something planned. Don’t worry; we’ll guide you through it step by step to make it as simple as possible. These instructions apply to both the official Twitter app on your phone and the browser.

Step 1: Launch your Twitter account and tap on your profile icon at the upper left corner of the home screen.

Step 2: Scroll down to locate the Settings and Privacy section and tap on it.

Step 3: You will find a Your account tab from here at the top; click on it.

Step 4: You will be directed to the Your Account page; look for the Account information option at the top of the menu, and click on it once located.

Step 5: Click on the Phone tab that has your number displayed.  

Step 6: You will receive a box at the center of the screen with two options: Update phone number and Delete phone number.

Step 7: Tap on the Delete phone number option. Next, you will receive a Delete phone number? confirmation box explaining to you what it would mean to remove the number from the account. The message states the number will get deleted from the account. It also means that you will receive no notification in the form of a text message from the app on your phone.

Step 8: Confirm by tapping on the Delete option. After this, you will receive a Your phone number has been successfully removed alert. Twitter recommends people add another number. 

They give you a choice to either Dismiss or Add number. You can choose to Dismiss if you have made up your mind to no longer associate any number with your account.

Open Twitter on your computer and go to the More option on the left panel of the screen. The process is then identical to that of the mobile app. However, it will want you to re-enter your password for confirmation before deleting your phone number.
