How many of you remember a time when the only way to meet with someone was through personal contact? You could ask them to meet you at a predestined time and location, or you could ask someone to tell them to meet you at a predestined time and location. You couldn’t reach them through calls, texts, or social media. We’re willing to bet that not many people have experienced this.
The technical wave that hit our world in the 2010s also turned it upside down. We now have the power to contact almost anyone at any given time, right in our pockets! We have all the information and facts that have ever been discovered in the history of humankind just three seconds away in a Wikipedia search.
However, excessive accessibility has also left very little room for privacy. Most people who know you can reach you anytime they want as long as they have your phone number or any of your social media accounts.
And while the fact that you can reach anyone at a time of danger sounds good in theory, in our practical lives, we have very few moments like these. In fact, most of the time, we like to be left alone, away from the hustle-bustle of both people and social media.
In today’s blog, we’ll discuss how you can fix it if a deleted contact is still showing up on your WhatsApp contact list. We’ll also talk about another method you can employ to restrict some people’s access to you via WhatsApp.
Is it Possible to Fix Deleted Contact Still Showing on WhatsApp?
Did you delete someone’s contact from your device but still see their contact on WhatsApp? If you are, don’t worry; we can easily fix it.
Although the reason behind this is unknown, most people say that it takes some time for WhatsApp to update the contact’s status. This means that even if you have deleted their contact, it takes a while for that change to appear on your smartphone.
However, there is also a way to decrease that waiting time by refreshing your WhatsApp contact list yourself. Let’s talk about how to do that.
How to Fix Deleted Contact Still Showing on WhatsApp
Firstly, let’s discuss how you can delete a contact from WhatsApp:
Step 1: Launch WhatsApp on your smartphone.
Step 2: The first screen you’ll see is your Chats page. At the bottom right corner of the screen, locate a green icon with a white text bubble and tap on it.
Step 3: That will take you to your WhatsApp contact list. Scroll down and locate the contact that you want to delete. Alternatively, you can also just tap on the Search icon at the top of the screen and type in their name for a quicker search.
Step 4: In their chat, tap on the icon of three dots arranged vertically at the top right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 5: Tap on the first item from that menu: View contact.
Step 6: Again, locate the icon of three dots arranged vertically and tap on it.
Step 7: From the menu that appears, tap on the third option that says View in address book. This will take you straight to their contact in your device’s phone book.
Step 8: You can locate the Delete or Delete contact option according to your phone’s system, and you’re good to go.
Now, go back to WhatsApp and check if you can still see their contact. If you can’t, your work here is done.
However, if you can still see their contact, here’s how to refresh your contact list on WhatsApp:
Follow steps 1 and 2 from the last section.
Step 3: On your contact list page, tap on the icon of three dots arranged vertically.
Step 4: On the drop-down menu, tap on the third option called Refresh. You can refresh as many times as it takes for the contact to be removed from the list. Usually, the WhatsApp developer’s team is careful about errors such as these, so it’s improbable for this problem to persist.
