The answer to this question is no, your contacts won’t be, nor is there any reason for them to be notified when you create a WhatsApp channel. However, if they’re also the channel admin, they’ll be able to see that you’re the creator. Still, they won’t be notified about it.

It’s a simple, and private way to get updates from people and organizations directly on WhatsApp. It appears on the tab called Updates, a space separate from your chats with friends, family, and communities.

There’s also a directory to discover and follow the channels you like. Ways to join a channel is through invite links an admin or follower shares in chats or emails, or through online posts.
As an admin, your phone number and WhatsApp profile photo will remain confidential and shielded from followers. Similarly, if you follow a channel, don’t worry; the admin/s or other followers cannot see your phone number.
Admins have the power to block any channel screenshots and forwards to control where their content goes. They also get to decide who can follow their WhatsApp channel and if they want it their channels to be accessible in the directory.
How to create a WhatsApp Channel
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to the Updates tab.
Step 2: Under the Status section, you’ll see another heading called Channels. Beside that, you’ll see a plus “+” icon; tap on that.
