How to Stop LinkedIn from Showing Likes and Comments

If you’ve been using Instagram for a while now, you might be aware of how it works: the platform hops on every trend and campaign to show its support. These include the LGBTQ community support campaign and the Black Lives Matter Movement. Instagram is ever-changing to the tune of its audience, especially Gen Z. Such an approach towards young and easily-influenced minds can make them feel self-important and arrogant if they haven’t done anything to earn it.

And while it doesn’t sound like a big issue right now, it might be the root of their personal and professional life problems as adults.

A good way to deal with this is to show them how hard some people their age work and how much respect they receive. However, an inspiring real-life story like that is unlikely to have much effect on them. To actually make them think about this in terms that they’ll understand, you can make them create an account on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn is more than just a social media platform for corporate workplaces today. Solopreneurs, start-ups, small business owners, and freelancers have their personal brands and communities. Students as young as sixteen and seventeen have an established presence on the platform!

These people are utilizing their time and working for their future now so they can do what they love in the later parts of their life. While it might seem overwhelming, intimidating, and even demotivating, everyone needs to overcome that initial trepidation to grow and learn.

And if learning and growing feel far away from now, they can focus on where they stand; understanding their leverage and disadvantages from every point of view. Peak self-awareness and its acceptance is in the way of growth and learning; you can’t see the latter before going through the former.

In today’s blog, we’ll talk about whether or not it is possible to stop all your likes and comments from showing on LinkedIn.

How to Stop LinkedIn from Showing Likes and Comments

People who’ve been using Instagram for more than a couple of years might remember the Activity tab, where you can see the activity of the users you follow.

However, that feature was removed from the app on the grounds of invasion of privacy.

Users could see who their friends followed, which posts they liked, and what comments they wrote. Honestly, it did seem a little sketchy, especially on a large platform like Instagram, where privacy is always an issue.

The Activity tab is also a feature on LinkedIn; all the posts a user has commented on, liked, and shared are displayed on their profile. However, for some reason, it isn’t that big of a concern for most users on the platform. Why do you think that is?

Well, the one major difference between Instagram and LinkedIn is that the former is a somewhat personal platform, while LinkedIn is strictly professional.

Moreover, the content on LinkedIn is highly professional, but it might be problematic for Instagram users if the pictures they’ve liked in the past five days were displayed publicly.

However, it’s not just embarrassment that might make a person want to hide their activity. It’s a basic privacy concern that might plague any user, especially those who’ve had to deal with problems related to their data.

To help those users, LinkedIn has thankfully launched an app setting that allows hiding your app activity. Read on to learn how to activate it.

Here’s how to stop LinkedIn from showing likes and comments

Step 1: Launch LinkedIn on your smartphone and log in to your account.

Step 2: The first screen you’ll land on is your Home screen. At the top left corner of that page, you’ll see an icon of your LinkedIn profile picture. Tap on it.

Step 3: A layover menu will appear. At the bottom, you’ll see the Settings option. Tap on it.

Step 4: This’ll take you to the Settings page. Tap on the third option called, Visibility.

Step 5: There are two subheadings on the Visibility page: Visibility of your profile and network and Visibility of your LinkedIn activity. Under the first subheading, tap on the second option called Edit your public profile.

Step 6: Under Public profile settings, scroll down to locate several options with toggle buttons next to them.

Step 7: By default, all the toggle buttons are turned on (if you have a public profile). Turn off the button next to the Articles & Activity.

There you go! Now you don’t need to worry about random users seeing your activity on LinkedIn.
