How to Find Out Who Owns a Snapchat Account

Several methods can help you find the true identity of a person on Snapchat. But every method might not work for you. The best way you can maximize your chances of finding the real identity is by following all the ways one by one to see what works for you and what doesn’t.

Below we have listed these methods for you in increasing order of difficulty. But, we are not mentioning the easiest and most obvious method on this list. You know what method we are talking about, don’t you? Anyways, keep reading to know the other options.

1. Look up the Profile

This method might seem quite obvious and is the first thing you can do to know something about the owner of the Snapchat account. The Profile section of an account is where you can find some basic information about the account.

If you have got a message from someone you don’t seem to know, go to their Profile section by tapping their Bitmoji icon next to their name/username on the Chats tab. On their Profile, you can find some of their info like Snapchat Name, username, or if they have made a public profile, their Spotlight stories(if any).

The Profile section can tell you some info about the account. But it is not always reliable. Snapchat allows users not to include their names in their accounts. If the person has not included a name, it won’t be easy to know anything just from the username. And most people on Snapchat do not have a public profile.

In such cases, it is not possible to make out anything much from the Profile section, and this is what takes us to the next method.

2. Check out their Stories

Stories on Snapchat are used to share updates of the day or simply anything a user finds worth sharing. People like to share Snaps through the Stories section of Snapchat. If you are friends with someone on Snapchat, you can find out a lot about them from their stories.

Just be on the lookout for the person’s Story in the Stories tab of Snapchat. You can also turn on Story notifications for the person so that whenever the person adds something to their Story, you will get notified unless the Story is hidden from you.

To turn on Story notifications for a Snapchat friend, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the Profile section of the person. If you have chatted with the person before, you can go to their Profile directly by tapping their Bitmoji next to their name in the Chats tab.

Or, go to the Chats tab, tap the three dots at the top right corner and select Manage Friendships. Here you will see a list of your Snapchat friends. Tap on their Bitmoji icon to go to their Profile.

Step 2: On the Profile screen, tap the three dots again. This time, you will see a list of options.
