Instagram stands tall as a powerhouse platform that has redefined how we share moments, express ourselves, and connect. Since its launch in 2010, Instagram has become a global sensation, captivating users with its visual approach and mesmerizing features that ignite creativity and promote meaningful interactions. The journey of Instagram began in San Francisco when two visionary entrepreneurs launched the platform in October 2010.
Inspired by the idea of letting people share moments instantaneously, they created an app that combined photography with the simplicity of social networking.
Essentially, Instagram is a photo and video-sharing service that empowers users to capture, edit, and share their experiences through captivating visuals. It provides a seamless platform for users to curate their digital gallery and express their unique perspectives, talents, and stories.
In today’s blog, we’ll discuss why, even though someone has replied to your story, you cannot see them in your story viewers’ list.
Someone Replied to My Instagram Story But Why is it Not Showing on Story Viewers List?
There are a few reasons why someone’s replied to your Instagram story, but it isn’t showing up on your story viewers’ list. The story may have expired, which is why you can’t see the list anymore. Or there’s a technical bug or a glitch preventing you from seeing their view on your story viewers’ list.
However, if the question you intended to ask was whether or not you can see when someone’s replied to your story on your list, that’s something entirely. You see, Instagram doesn’t show it on the story viewers’ list that someone replied to the story.
Story replies are reserved for DMs only unless it is a Q&A. Those are something different; instead of DMs, you get to share the questions you get for a Q&A and add the answers to your story.
Firstly, let’s discuss why you can’t see someone’s view on your Instagram story, even though they’ve replied.
Deleted or expired stories
Stories on Instagram have a limited lifespan; they only last for 24 hours before disappearing. If someone replies to your story after its expiration/deletion, their reply won’t be visible on the story viewers list.
Well, to be clear, you won’t be able to see the list at all. But it can be confusing if you haven’t seen them on there the last time you checked your list. Anyway, now you know it only means they saw your story in the eleventh hour and replied right before it disappeared.
However, what if you wanted to see your story after 24 hours? No, what if you wanted everyone to be able to see one of your stories after 24 hours? Well, you can create a highlight for it!
Highlights are small albums that you can place on your profile right above your profile grid. You can create as many highlights as you want and add up to 100 stories in a single one!
People can see replies to your highlights, but unfortunately, story views disappear after 24 hours, so you won’t be able to find out who’s seen the highlight.
If this sounds like something you’d like to do, here’s how to create a highlight on Instagram.
Step 1: Open the Instagram mobile app on your smartphone.
Step 2: Go to Your Profile by tapping on the icon of your profile picture at the screen’s bottom right.
Step 3: Under your bio and the option to Edit Profile, you’ll see a circular icon with a plus and the word New under it. Tap on it.
Step 4: Now, you’ll be taken to your Stories archive. Here, you’ll see every story that you have ever posted.
Select whichever stories you wish to add to the highlight and tap on Next at the top right of the page.
Step 5: Now, you can Edit the cover of the highlight; you can choose from the highlight or your gallery.
Step 6: Tap on Done at the top right, and your highlight is now ready on your profile for viewing!
Glitches and technical issues
Like any digital platform, Instagram also has its share of glitches and technical issues. Bugs or technical glitches can cause certain views to be missing from the story viewers list. These issues are usually temporary and resolve over time as the platform undergoes regular updates and maintenance.
