WhatsApp is one of the top social media messaging platforms worldwide. Although hundreds of similar platforms were there before WhatsApp, and hundreds have been launched since, none of them hold a candle to its popularity. Why do you think that is? For example, Telegram and Messenger were launched before WhatsApp, which is why they both had around a billion monthly active users during their peak popularity period. However, since the launch of WhatsApp, no other similar platform has ever risen to fame except Tinder and Bumble, both primarily dating platforms.

The main reason behind WhatsApp’s rise to fame and popularity is a very popular business term: dependency. The creators of WhatsApp have made the users highly but unconsciously dependent on the platform. Everyone has WhatsApp, so anyone who needs to connect with anyone should have WhatsApp.
However, dependency is much more complex than that, and it doesn’t come into play until much later. The first thing WhatsApp provides its users is quality service and regular updates, which is pretty much it. It cannot be taught, and it cannot be bought.
Listening to customer reviews and working to resolve any issues is the first step, and adding essential features the users didn’t know they needed comes second. Consistency in both is the most crucial step, and it’s what got WhatsApp where it is today.
Even though it’s been years since it became popular, and people will use the platform even if they don’t particularly like it at this point, WhatsApp still rolls out new updates regularly. If that’s not quality service, we don’t know what is.
In today’s blog, we’ll talk about whether or not you can read WhatsApp messages without being seen.
Is it Possible to Read WhatsApp Messages without Being Seen?
We can guarantee that you can’t find anyone around you that has a smartphone and any one social media account but doesn’t use WhatsApp. Our friends, family, and friends of our family are all on WhatsApp.
Let’s say you met someone new and are really excited to talk to them. It looks like they’re going to ask you out, but you can’t say for sure right now. Your friends are asking you to act cool, which you know isn’t the best way to go about it, but is really efficient.
How exactly do you play cool with someone on text?
Well, one sure way to be cool with someone is to avoid coming across as over-eager. Don’t be too quick when replying to them, but don’t take so long that they get annoyed. It’s a thin line, but at one point, everyone learns to walk it.
But you actually are eager and really want to know what they texted you. So, how do you go about it?
This is where we come in. We’ve curated two main ways to see a WhatsApp message without being seen, and we’ve discussed both today. Read on to learn how it works!
How can you turn off read receipts on WhatsApp?
Read receipts are what we commonly call read receipts. Whenever you see a message on WhatsApp, the other person finds out about it because the two tiny ticks on the message turn blue.
You can escape this by turning off your read receipts. That way, no one can really tell whether or not you’ve seen their message.
However, WhatsApp is a large social media platform that doesn’t believe in discrimination among its users and values their privacy above all else. So, if others can’t see your read receipts, you can’t see theirs, too.
We’d suggest going ahead with it because read receipts aren’t worth the overthinking they bring in. Turn off that toggle button, and it might just help you not care about their messages for real.
Step 1: Launch WhatsApp on your smartphone.
Step 2: The first screen that you’ll see is your Chats. You’ll see the three dots icon at the top right corner of the screen. Tap on it.

Step 3: A drop-down menu will appear. Tap on the last option on that menu called Settings.

Step 4: On the Settings page, tap on the first option called Account.

Step 5: Again, tap on the first item on the Account page called Privacy.
Step 6: Scroll down on the Privacy page to locate the option called Read receipts with a toggle button right next to it. By default, it is turned on. Turn it off, and you’re good to go.

How to see WhatsApp messaging without being seen and without turning off read receipts
We understand that it’s not possible for everyone to turn off their read receipts. They are an important feature, and turning them off would mean not being able to see if someone else has seen your message. That doesn’t sound very convenient, does it?
Well, don’t worry; we will not hang you out to dry. Besides turning off the read receipts, there’s another way to see someone’s messages on WhatsApp without being seen.
This process is a bit lengthy, which is why the previous method is preferred over this one. However, more than half of the users who’ve used it say that it works quite efficiently, so we’d suggest you give it a try.
Step 1: Activate the Airplane Mode on your smartphone, which will cut off all connections between your device and the rest of the world.

Step 2: Launch WhatsApp on your smartphone.
Step 3: The first screen you’ll see is the Chats page, with a list of all your conversations. Tap on the one with the unread message you want to read without being seen.

Step 4: You can now see the message and even take a screenshot if the message is long and you’re pressed for time.
Step 5: Having done that, exit WhatsApp and remove it from your Recent tab to prevent it from updating automatically when your phone connects to a network.

Step 6: Finally, you can turn off Airplane mode and turn on your mobile data. Go back to WhatsApp, and you’ll see that the message is still unread, which means they won’t know you’ve read it.

In the end
As we end this blog, let us recap all that we’ve talked about today.
There are mainly two efficient ways to read a WhatsApp message without being seen: turn off your read receipts or activate Airplane mode on your device.
Both these methods are simple, but users generally prefer the first one as the second is lengthy, and there’ve been a few claims saying it doesn’t really work.
It’s totally up to you to decide whichever method sounds more trustworthy and hassle-free. Our suggestion is to turn off read receipts, but there’s no right or wrong choice here; do as you wish.
