If You Like and Unlike Video on TikTok, Will They Know?

TikTok is slowly emerging as one of the most popular social media networking platforms, joining Facebook and Instagram. It is especially liked by teenagers, who just can’t get enough of the entertaining and, sometimes, even informative videos on the platform. While most parents seem to think that no real harm can come from their child using an app, they can’t help but wonder what it’s all about. If you’re one of these parents, don’t worry; we’ve got you.

Let’s talk about what TikTok is, how it has got all kids in a chokehold, and if it’s good for them.

TikTok is a large social media platform that primarily features video content. There are various content niches ranging from satire, cooking, art, organization, lifestyle, wellness, fitness, gaming, pop culture, education, science, life hacks, and much more.

In the beginning, a user will see content from all niches. The content they like and engage with the most will appear more frequently in their feed. On the other hand, videos that the user is seemingly uninterested in will slowly disappear.

Soon, the For You page will be ready; it contains all the videos you’ll most probably like.

The thing is, everyone likes to be thought of as important. Whenever social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok tailor content according to the users, it has a subconsciously pleasing effect on their minds.

TikTok takes it a step ahead with its endless playback feature. It basically means you don’t need to keep scrolling to see newer videos; it does that on its own.

You could be doing your makeup or cooking spaghetti while simultaneously listening to all those TikTok videos.

And that’s just on convenience. The videos themselves are short but often funny and entertaining. This combination keeps the users hooked even if a small part of them wants to return to work. This phenomenon is called mindless media consumption. It’s difficult to get out of because it loops the brain into a constant dopamine release.

Moreover, users generally don’t even remember what they saw after a day or two. It just feels good in the moment, with absolutely no advantages and one major disadvantage: wasting time.

As you can tell by now, TikTok can harm the brain. But don’t worry, as long as it is used in moderation, it’s just a way to relax and unwind. If you explain to your kids the disadvantages we talked about and just ask them to set a daily 30-minute timer, we’re sure they’ll listen.

If you’re wondering whether or not a TikTok creator will find out if you like and unlike their video, we’ve got you. Keep reading till the end of this blog to learn all about it!

If You Like and Unlike Video on TikTok, Will They Know?

Let’s say that you recently found out that one of your long-lost friends joined TikTok and wanted to check out their profile and videos. In doing so, you accidentally liked one of those videos.

You immediately removed your like, but you think the damage is already done, and now they might be thinking of you as creepy or as a stalker.

So, will the creator know if you like and unlike a video on TikTok immediately? Well, the answer is yes and no. The creator generally does not immediately find out when their video is liked and disliked. After you unlike the video, even the notification sent to them disappears from the app.

However, whether or not they’ll find out depends on a few factors. This includes the amount of engagement on the video before you liked it and whether or not the creator was online when you liked their video.

For example, if that video already has more than a couple thousand likes, they won’t notice your like and unlike.

However, if you’re one of the three users who lived their video, there’s a good chance they’ll notice your missing like.  Even if you think this creator has found out about it, don’t worry. Is it worth it, crying over spilled milk? No, right?

If it does matter to you that much, you can always like their video again. If they ask you about it, you can just tell them it was an accident. Won’t that be convenient?

Here’s how to like and unlike a video on TikTok

Step 1: Launch TikTok on your smartphone and log in to your account.

Step 2: The page that you’ll land on is the For You Page or FYP.

Step 3: At the bottom of the page, you’ll see five icons. Tap on the second icon from the left called Discover, with a magnifying glass drawn over it.

Step 4: You’ll find the TikTok Search Bar at the top of the page. Type in the name/username of the user you’re looking for.

Step 5: From the search results that appear, tap on the profile you’re looking for.

Step 6: Scroll down on their profile and tap on any one of the videos. At the bottom left side of the screen, five icons will be in a vertical line.

Step 7: Tap on the second icon from the top, which will be a heart. The white heart will turn red, meaning that you’ve liked the video.
