The step to muting someone’s story is a breeze! It takes you a couple of seconds at max, and you’re at peace for as long as you want. We’ll explain it first before diving deep into the main topic.
Here’s how you do it:
Step 1: Launch Instagram on your phone.
Step 2: Swipe through your stories section to reach the target user’s stories.
Step 3: Once you’re there, long tap the story.
Step 4: Upon doing so, two options appear: View profile and Mute.
Select Mute.
Step 5: The next thing you’ll see is a confirmation box.
The full message states:
Mute (username)?
You can unmute them from their profile. Instagram won’t let them know you muted them.
Step 6: You now have three choices: Mute story, Mute story and posts, and Cancel.
Choose Mute story.
Tip: To mute a story, swipe to the end of your story section to find their story circle. Long press on it and select unmute story.
A Story muted message will flash on the screen and the person’s story will be hidden.
If you swipe through the end of your story, you can still see them. However, their story circles would be blurry, indicating they are muted, and there would be no vibrant circle surrounding it, so you wouldn’t know if they updated one.
