User Not Found Instagram: If you are a regular Instagram user, you must have encountered the error “User Not Found” at some point. Most people link this message to the fact that they have gotten blocked by the person they are trying to search for. However, that isn’t the case, there can be many reasons you might face this error.
According to the report by InstaZood, “User Not Found” is one of the most reported error on Instagram. As a result, it sometimes makes users confused and complicated as people have entirely no idea from where they appear.
If you face the same error while searching for someone on Instagram, don’t worry anymore.
Here you will find the complete guide on why you would see the “User Not Found” error and possible ways to fix it.
What Does User Not Found Instagram Mean?
1. Changed Username
The most common reason why Instagram shows a “User Not Found” error is that the user you are searching for must have changed their username. Perhaps, they have altered the entire name.
If that is the case, you will see this error message right on the profile page. It mainly happens when you click on the person’s username from an old picture, which leads you to a page where the error message is displayed.
To confirm whether the username has been changed or not, you can use the Instagram Username Availability tool.
Next, you will have to browse their name to find out their real Instagram profile or try a couple of names you think they must have used. Type these names in the search bar to see if their profile shows up in the search results.
2. Mistyped Username
The admin can post a picture with a bunch of people with their usernames mentioned in the caption. They could also tag the people in the photograph. However, sometimes people can mistype the username.
There is a chance the admin has tagged the wrong person or mentioned the wrong username. If you click on the wrong username, you will be redirected to a page with a “User Not Found” error.
To fix it, you can contact the admin to see if the mentioned username is written correctly, or you better check the spelling by yourself.
3. Disabled Account
Another common reason you cannot find a user’s profile is that they must have disabled their account temporarily. The platform does not allow users to see the profiles that have been disabled temporarily.
If you try to search for a disabled account, you will see an error message like “User Not Found” or “Sorry, this page isn’t available” and has not posted anything yet.
Note that there is a difference between disabling and deleting the profile. If the profile has been deleted, then it can’t be retrieved. There is no way the admin can get their account back.
If it’s been disabled temporarily, then the admin can activate the account by signing in. Either way, you will get the error message whenever you visit the permanently deleted or temporarily disabled profile.
4. Instagram Banned the Account
Instagram has a set of guidelines that every user is supposed to follow. If a user breaches any security policy or attempts to spread inaccurate and sensitive information, then Instagram has the right to ban the account. In addition, users can report a particular post or profile if they find it inappropriate. If the account is banned, you will not be able to see the profile anymore.
When the user is blocked, they can find the profile in the search bar. They could also view the profile, but they can’t see the posts. The profile picture of the Instagrammer that has blocked you is also visible. You don’t receive any error message when you visit a user’s profile that has blocked you.
If you ever receive a notification that says “User Not Found”, then that’s probably because the account you are trying to reach is no longer active.
